The Underground Casino Series

THE GOLD DIGGER

THE HIGH ROLLER

THE EARLY BIRD

THE TALENT

THE SHARK

We came up with the concept of an underground casino for City Paper's annual Choice issue. With a budget of $1,000, we managed to hire 6 actors from Reinhart talent agency, rent costumes for them, rent the red kino flo's, and pick up additional props for each character. We thought of building a stucco wall to shoot against, but I offered up my basement after we calculated the price. Plus, it forced me clear out a large amount of junk and we had an impromptu yard sale the following Saturday. I used one Hensel monolight on each side of the face (flagged off the wall), another monolight behind shooting at the wall, and an SB800 secured to the ceiling shooting straight down(which I turned off for some images). I'd never worked Kino Flo's before, but after years of hearing my friend Chandler talk about them while gaffing NYC jobs, I thought this was the perfect time to play with them.
